Food & Wine Announces ‘People’s Best New Chef’ Nominees

Vote now for local chefs Carolyn Johnson, Tim Maslow, and Phillip Tang.

Chef Carolyn Johnson from 80 Thoreau is one of four Massachusetts chefs to be nominated in the category of Food & Wine Magazine’s “The People’s Best New Chef 2014.”

Today, Food & Wine Magazine announced announced their Top 100 nominees for “The People’s Best New Chef 2014” and four Massachusetts-area chefs are up for contention: Tim Maslow from Ribelle, Carolyn Johnson from 80 Thoreau in Concord, Phillip Tang from East by Northeast, and Bjorn Somlo from Nudel in Lenox. The award is an extension of the Food & Wine Best New Chefs award, honoring talented up-and-coming innovators who have run their own kitchens for less than five years.  The dining public will determine the winner via online voting at foodandwine.com starting March 24 through March 31 at 5 p.m.

In its fourth year, “The People’s Best New Chef” category honors a field of 100 nominees, including 10 chefs from different 10 regions across America. The chef with the most online votes in each region will be named a finalist. The candidate with the most votes overall is awarded the title of The People’s Best New Chef and will be featured in the July 2014 issue of Food & Wine. The finalists and winner will be revealed online on April 2, so go online and show some love for your favorite chefs.
