To capitalize on the recent bout of warm weather, Central Bottle is offering picnic basket rentals filled with cheeses, chocolate, charcuterie, and a choice of wine or beer. Given 24 hours notice, a team member will tailor a unique basket packed with all the essentials including glasses, cutlery, a corkscrew, cutting board, and snacks like an Iggy’s baguette, Mast Brothers chocolate, and Olympic Provisions saucisson sec salami.

“We initially were motivated to figure out a way to get a bottle of wine and some snacks onto the Esplanade on the Fourth of July,” says Central Bottle co-owner Liz Vilardi. “Then we started thinking much bigger, like, why aren’t we offering something portable for the entire summer? We started Googling it and there was actually a wine and cheese shop in Texas that did picnic basket rentals, which we thought was just brilliant.”

A typical picnic basket includes:

  • Olympic Provisions saucisson sec
  • Iggy’s small baguette
  • 1/2 pound of Weybridge (cow’s milk – VT)
  • 1/4 pound of Landaff (cow’s milk – NH)
  • Housemade fig jam
  • Mcevoy Ranch Tuscan table olives
  • Mast Brothers chocolate bar
  • Saratoga still water 28 oz.
  • Your choice of a red, white, rose, or sparkling wine or beer(s)

Choices of wine include Jean Marc Burgaud “Les Vignes de Thulon” Beaujolais villages, Palha Canas arinto, François Chidaine Grolleau pinot noir rosé, and others. Beer consists of either a six-pack or two large format bottles from local craft breweries such as Pretty Things, Jack’s Abby, and Maine Beer Company.
