Inspired by the “mug clubs” that are becoming ever more prevalent around the city (Bukowski Tavern, Parish Café, and Tico’s tequila club), Painted Burro chef and owner Joe Cassinelli has decided to launch his own “Agave Club.” Serious agave enthusiasts can sample their way through Painted Burro’s extensive collection of mezcals and tequilas and win prizes such as a make-your-own margarita kit, a four-course dinner at The Painted Burro, and even a trip to Cancun.

In addition to their regular menu, boasting over 100 varieties of tequila, The Painted Burro is now offering a privately selected single barrel of Corazón Reposado that has been aged for eight months in Canadian Oak. There are no time restrictions to accomplish the various milestones in the Agave Club. Below are the varying amounts needed in order to score prizes:

  • 25 tequilas or mezcals – make your own margarita kit including hand juicer, shaker, salt rimmer, and margarita glasses
  • 50 tequilas or mezcals – four-course dinner for two at The Painted Burro with tequila and mezcal pairings
  • 100 tequilas or mezcals – roundtrip airfare for one to Cancun, Mexico
