Gracie’s Ice Cream Opens in Somerville

House-made Magic Shell? Toasted Fluff cones? Choco Taco ice cream? It almost sounds too good to be true.

Ice cream is wonderful no matter the weather. At least that’s what Gracie’s Ice Cream owners Ben Dryer and Aaron Cohen are banking on when they finally open the doors to their Union Square ice cream parlor. Located at 22 Union Square, between Indian Palace restaurant and Somerville Cleaners, the 500-square-foot space will showcase enticing flavors like cold brew coffee, black raspberry chip, peanut butter Choco Taco, and chocolate Fluff, to complement more traditional offerings like vanilla bean, strawberry, and chocolate.

Gracie’s will start off by featuring 12 flavors, but according to Cohen, new flavors will debut constantly, including their Swedish Apple Pie ice cream, which was recently featured on top of an old fashioned doughnut at Mei Mei Street Kitchen. Each scoop can be topped with Gracie’s version of chocolate Magic Shell or hot fudge, and packed into a toasted Fluff cone. Within the coming weeks, Gracie’s will be adding smoothies, frappes, and ice cream sandwiches to their menu.

To celebrate their grand opening, they’ll be offering a free ice cream cone for customers who swing by before Thanksgiving and buy two pints. Gracie’s will be open Monday through Friday 3-9 p.m. and noon-9 p.m. on the weekend.
