It appears Boston will officially have an outpost of Mario Batali’s Eataly, the gourmet Italian marketplace with 27 locations around the world. The Globe is reporting that Batali and Joe Bastianich’s B&B Hospitality Group, the same restaurant group behind Babbo Pizzeria in the Seaport District, is close to signing a lease at the Prudential Center that would allow them to take over the existing food court inside.

The projected space would span three floors and over 45,000 square feet with six restaurants, a rooftop grill, a brewery with a retractable ceiling and patio, and a market offering over 15,000 products. Other features would include a street-level entrance with a cafe, which would lead up to the marketplace and connect to a new building currently under construction on the Pru property.

Eataly hopes to open their first Boston location by mid- to late-2016.
