Puritan & Company Debuts New Private Events Space and Bar Menu
It’s frustrating to show up for dinner at a destination restaurant only to find it reserved for a party you’re not invited to. Puritan & Company has just unveiled a new private events space within its Inman Square restaurant so that experience happens less often.
“We get a lot of inquiries for weddings and private events, and we don’t want to close the restaurant all the time,” private events and service manager Rebecca Millette says. “It seemed like the next logical step.”
The room has been part of Puritan & Co.’s footprint since it opened in 2012, but was previously used for storage. Davis Square Architects, Justin Kelly Contracting, and chef/owner Will Gilson collaborated to refinish the wood flooring, and install coffered ceiling tiles, bright white molding, modern lighting, and a Sonos sound system to make it an intimate venue.
With removable tables and chairs, it can accommodate seated dinners up to 30 guests, as well as cocktail and buffet receptions and corporate presentations. Puritan & Co. is currently renting a projector and screen as needed, but in the coming months, those amenities will be a permanent option, Millette says.
Located at the back of the restaurant, through a new foyer next to chef’s table, the room has large picture windows looking into the main dining area, giving it a connected feeling, Millette says. It also has its own service bar. For full buyouts, the restaurant can now accommodate around 100 guests.
Puritan & Co. also joined the local restaurants kicking off the new year with a new bar menu, Gilson Instagrammed last night. Among the new dishes are scallop and linguiça dumplings with piri piri sauce, a tip of the toque to the neighborhood’s Portuguese community; buffalo skate wings; corned beef ribs; and more.
