How Anyone Can Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Patients, caregivers, and families must face major decisions upon hearing news of a breast cancer diagnosis: How and where will they be treated? Will they need to relocate and how will they afford to do so? Where will the patient and their loved ones find emotional support?

This experience can be devastating to begin with, and for those struggling with a lack of financial, social, or psychological resources, treatment is all the more challenging. While everyone can support researchers in their quest for a cure, you don’t have to be a medical professional to champion patients in their daily battles against breast cancer. Through a volunteer base of over 1.5 million supporters, the American Cancer Society is mobilized by communities around the country who prioritize the fight against cancer in their daily lives. In support of their overarching mission to end cancer as we know it for everyone, we can all commit to supporting ACS’s cause in our everyday schedules: at the grocery store, within your fitness routine, or through weekend volunteering.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s how you can give your time, resources, and support to patients and families fighting breast cancer on the front lines. Call 800-227-2345 or visit volunteercommunity.cancer.org for more info.
