Romneycare 2.0: Pulling a 180

Romneycare 2.0: Pulling a 180. In light of continued reports and opinions that his original Massachusetts healthcare plan (universal care and all) has been working with remarkable success, Mitt Romney is executing his signature political move: pulling a 180 and heading in the other direction with a new proposal for his presidential campaign. The general sensibility of it is to drop the work-based coverage model, let Americans pick and choose, and overhaul Medicare and Medicaid while you’re at it. Possible pros: market drives could push prices down, and stop discrimination against the self-employed. Possible cons: jack up the federal deficit a little more, potential discrimination against the already-sick or injured. [L.A. Times]
