Maybe, just maybe it will be a little easier now to get a “secret” burger at Alden & Harlow. Sister spot Waypoint just debuted its own limited-availability rendition.

Chef-owner Michael Scelfo—who first created a social media-fueled burger craze while he was executive chef at Russell House Tavern—put out a call for Waypoint burger taste-testers on Friday. The hyped up burger is a celebration of Waypoint’s first year.

Richard Chudy, @bostonburgerboy, private chef, and co-author of American Burger Revival: Brazen Recipes to Electrify a Timeless Classic, got one Friday night.

“If I could pick one person to cook me burgers forever it’d probably be my burger brother [Scelfo] and this one was insane,” Chudy shared—adding the hashtag #bosfeed. The half-pound Waypoint burger uses two patties of Alden & Harlow’s smoky, craveable Creekstone brisket, short rib, and beef grind. It adds Benton’s bacon, tomato, pickled onion slaw, a Cabot Cheese clothbound cheddar spread, and tonnato sauce, atop a house-made celery root and seed bun. It comes with fries and pickles for $17.

“Unreal,” Chudy adds.

At Alden & Harlow, Scelfo makes fewer than 50 burgers a night, and they’re typically sold out within the first hour of dinner service. And Scelfo isn’t the only burger whisperer in town: chef Tony Maws offers just 18 of his coveted patties every night at Craigie on Main. But he’s been sharing the wealth a bit this summer with a lunch series with Notch Brewing Company. Your next daytime opportunity to have a Craigie burger is Friday, Sept. 1.

As for Waypoint’s burger, it will be “super limited daily,” but they’re still “playing it by ear” in terms of availability, they shared on Instagram Friday. “more deets soon.”

Seems worth mentioning, Waypoint opens at 5 p.m.
