Howie Carr: Hall of Famer?

We’ve had a lot of fun with Howie Carr. Whether we’re laughing at the Virtual Howie WRKO developed during last year’s battle with their indentured servant, or happy that he took the time to reminded us exactly what Jacques rhymes with, we can’t deny that he’s a power player in local media.

Now Carr is getting some national recognition. The talk show host has been nominated to the National Radio Hall of Fame.

Howie’s nominated in the “Local or Regional – Active” category, and is up against Chicago’s Steve Dahl, Bob Grant from New York, and Ronn Owens from San Francisco.

In a press release, WRKO Vice President Jason Wolfe gives Howie some props. “Howie has more than earned this outstanding honor and I’m looking forward to introducing him at the induction ceremonies next year.”

Carr hasn’t won the contest yet, however. You can vote for Howie at the Radio Hall of Fame’s website starting on May 1. Voting closes on July 15, and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

God, is it too much to ask that if Howie earns enshrinement, Virtual Howie would serve as the portrait for the plaque?
