Comm. Ave. Closed

As if commuting into the city via Commonwealth Avenue on an average weekday weren’t difficult enough, a medical supply truck has wreaked havoc at the intersection of Comm Ave and Babcock Street. Comm Ave is closed in both directions, the haz-mat team has been called in, and the B line is running shuttle buses between the Blandford Street and Brighton Avenue stops.

Details are still coming in, but Boston.com’s report makes it sound like quite the mess.

A medical supply truck caused a series of accidents this morning as it careened down several blocks of Commonwealth Avenue, striking a half dozen cars before it burst into flames, according to witnesses and a police spokeswoman.

It’s not any easier for T riders. The MBTA says you’re pretty much on your own.

A [sic] susbstitute bus shuttle will run in both directions between Blandford Street and Brighton Avenue (Packards Corner). Also shuttle trains running between Pleasent Street and Blandford Street. Seek alternate transportation to avoid delays.

Oh, and don’t forget your umbrella as you commence your long slog into the city. It’s pretty rainy out there.
