48 Hours of Freedom

It’s the weekend. You can spend it lamenting the fact that it’s not a three-day weekend, or you can pack all the fun you can into the two days you’ve got. Here are some other suggestions for your precious days of total freedom, prepared for you by Boston Daily.

Tonight
You can pretend all you want, but we know that you love arena rock. Give in to your true desires and check out the Museum of Science’s Laser 70’s Rock.

It’s OK. You can let out a guffaw at tonight’s Laugh for Relief benefit. Some of the area’s best comedians team up to raise money for the victims of China’s earthquake.

The Boston Pops have gone country. Riders in the Sky perform at Symphony Hall tonight.

Ladies, it’s fast becoming frock weather. Pick up a new dress for 15 percent off tonight at Velvet Fly.

Saturday
She may be so unusual, but Cyndi Lauper taught us all that girls just want to have fun. The girls and the boys will both enjoy the True Colors Tour, which stops in town tonight.

You used to be able to dance on the surface of the Charles River, but now that it’s cleaner you’ll have to make due with gliding with your partner on the shore. The summer-long Dancing on the Charles series kicks off tonight.

For those who prefer to watch others do the dancing, head to Boston Ballet’s School Spring Showcase. Tonight’s show is a fundraiser for the school’s scholarship fund.

Note to the ladies who are participating in the Charity Fashion Show for Rosie’s Place—you cannot be fiercer than our own Rachel Baker.

Sunday
Avoid the traffic back from the Cape by stopping at the Cape Cod Life Food and Wine Festival for its Grand Tasting.

We know Arthur, the Muppets, and Dora the Explorer. But what the hell is a Backyardigan? Whatever it is, it’s at the Colonial Theater this weekend.

Newbury Street may be over, but we can still find funky stuff at the South End Open Market. Thank God.

After a fun-filled weekend, why cook when you can have a Sunday Supper at Sage?
