Big Papi announced his new gig on Twitter—probably using a Samsung Galaxy.

From here on out, let it be known that Big Papi drinks Dunkin’. David Ortiz tweeted today that he is the new spokesperson for Dunkin’ Donuts, joking, “Lots of iced coffees in my future!”

The Red Sox star’s last major endorsement was a big success-with-a-question-mark after he took a selfie with President Barack Obama, and was then criticized for doing it to promote the Samsung smartphone he used. (Writer’s note: He tweeted today’s Dunkin’ announcement from an Android, model unconfirmed.)

Samsung snafu aside though, most Red Sox fans seem pretty excited to have Big Papi repping Dunkin’, the brand of choice for many a New Englander. Yes, Ortiz killed the selfie, but let’s all look forward to what will surely be some cheesy (or should we say, “glaze-y”) Dunkin’ commercials in the near future.
