Starting on Wednesday, September 17, Roche Bros. supermarket will be setting up five pop-up produce tents in front of their eventual brick and mortar location at 10 Summer St. in Downtown Crossing. The outside market will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offer a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables, floral arrangements, and baked goods.

“Boston BID [Business Improvement District] and the developer Millennium Partners approached us and asked us if we would set up the market,” says Roche Bros. marketing director Dena Zigun. “They just launched all the new merchandising units [RMUs] in Downtown Crossing—so they’re refreshing the street cart thing anyway—and they know there’s a real need for fresh produce in the area. This will be a little bridge until we can open the full store.”

Zigun says the new Downtown Crossing Roche Bros. location is projected to open in the spring of 2015. Located inside the 625-foot Millennium Tower, Roche Bros. is the biggest name to join the development, which will also include 450 luxury residences and 95,000 square feet of retail space.
