For an southern girl like chef Sarah Wade, springtime means backyard barbecues, shortcake studded with ripe strawberries, and creamy guacamole, preferably enjoyed on an open patio with corn chips freshly plucked out of the fryer. That’s why, this week, the Oklahoma-native has rolled out an overhauled menu at Lulu’s Allston featuring some of her favorite dishes from back home. Additions include a “Sexy” strawberry salad with a torched goat cheese medallion, a rack of smoked heritage pork ribs, a Texas-style pulled pork sandwich with house-made barbecue sauce, and bar snacks like fried Grillo’s pickles.

The chef says the new menu will run through the summer, with minor tweaks and changes to take place in mid-July. In addition to the revamped dinner menu, Wade, for the first time, has created a lunch menu that’s almost wholly distinct from it’s evening counterpart. Joining Lulu’s repertoire of flatbreads, burgers, and wings, are a selection of omelets and egg sandwiches, because as Wade says, “the [Allston] neighborhood always needs more breakfast-y items.” Take a look at the full menu below.
