James Cochener and Michael Moxley, owners of The Salty Pig, Coda Kitchen + Bar, and Canary Square, along with chefs Kevin O’Donnell and Michael Lombardi, will open SRV in Boston’s South End neighborhood this fall. The new concept, located at 569 Columbus Avenue, is inspired by the teams’ lifelong passion for authentic Italian cuisine and will be styled after a casual Venetian Bácaro. The name SRV pays homage to the Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia (Serene Republic of Venice).

The 100-seat (plus private courtyard patio and sidewalk seating) will feature classic Italian spirits and cocktails, Italian craft beer, and a dinner menu of shareable small plates, house-made pastas, risotto, and polenta. The bar at SRV will focus on Italian wine and cicchetti, smaller Italian bites like one would find in a traditional Bácaro. The Venetian-focused dinner menu will include traditional dishes such as baccalà mantecato, a creamy salted cod fish served over warm bread or a wedge of polenta, baked cuttlefish, and Risi e Bisi (rice and peas).

O’Donnell and Lombardi, best friends who met working in a restaurant kitchen in Italy six years ago, will be moving from their chef positions at The Salty Pig to share co-ownership and the executive chef role at SRV. This will be the first restaurant for both of them.
