Doretta Taverna and Osteria Posto Put Lunch on the Menu Today

Refuel today with salads, pizzas, sandwiches and more during brand-new lunch services in Waltham and Boston. Or, indulge at No. 9 Park, which has a holiday lunch prix-fixe and guest bartenders.

The large community of tech workers in Waltham has a new site for business lunches. Osteria Posto, an Italian steakhouse concept from the Alpine Restaurant Group (Posto, the Painted Burro, Rosebud) debuts its lunch menu today. Chef Richard Fathman’s daytime menu offers salads, sandwiches, shareable plates, meat and fish entrées, and, unlike on the dinner menu, grilled pizzas. Flavor combinations include sopressata with Tuscan peppers and arugula; chicken with basil pesto and roasted tomatoes; pumpkin and cantarelle; and more. Lunch is offered weekdays from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

In downtown Boston, chef Michael Schlow also has a new lunch menu. Doretta Taverna, a Mediterranean concept that replaced Via Matta earlier this fall, will serve weekday lunch from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. beginning today. Like the dinner menu, lunch at Doretta offers simple small plates like grilled octopus, salmon tartare, and crunchy eggplant; a selection of house-made spreads, salads, and composed entrées, plus there a lamb burger and Greek-inspired pizzas. Looking for a more indulgent lunch today? No. 9 Park chef de cuisine Ben Weisberger’s onion soup with braised oxtail, gruyère cheese, and roasted bone marrow; or baked stuffed lobster for two with chanterelle mushrooms, hollandaise, and bottarga bread crumbs might do the trick. Barbara Lynch’s Beacon Hill restaurant has two weeks left of its annual holiday lunch service, running weekdays through December 23 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Since debuting the lunch season late last month, it has invited in guest bartenders, and today, Hojoko bar manager Daren Swisher is crafting cocktails to go along with No. 9 Park’s three- and five-course tasting menus.
