As part of a yearlong entrepreneurial studies class at Emerson College, senior Jon Allen created the world’s first all-natural, organic Shirley Temple. After winning a $10,000 cash prize for winning the E3 Expo (Emerson Entrepreneurial Experience) in 2013, Allen began the Temple Twist soda brand, now bottled by Flavorman, the same beverage company behind Jones Soda.
You can sample Allen’s bottled Shirley Temple on May 31, when Flavorman releases 1,000 special edition 750ml bottles exclusively at Lambert’s Marketplace in downtown Boston. Later in July, Temple Twist will be available in standard 12oz bottles in independent retail accounts and select restaurants around town.
Temple Twist is made sans high-fructose corn syrup, opting instead for simple ingredients such as carbonated water, organic sugar, organic cherry juice concentrate, citric acid, and stevia extract. It is manufactured in Martinsburg, West Virginia by Shenandoah Valley Brand, using sustainable glass bottles.
