It may feel like summer is almost over but, with more than a month left in the season, there’s still plenty of time to get in shape for the beach. For those who prefer group classes over solo workouts, Boston Sports Clubs (BSC) has a new program for you: a free, adults-only “summer camp.”

Starting Monday, August 4, BSC gyms in Boston and Waltham will hold weekly 45-minute summer camp sessions at their UXF training zones. The turf-covered areas emphasize “functional training,” and feature several exercise stations which are designed to “condition your body for the activities performed in daily life,” according to the BSC website. The equipment used in the summer camp sessions will enable participants to simulate activities they might perform at the beach, lake, or campground.

Reps say the sessions are appropriate for adults of all fitness levels, and are open to both members and non-members. Each session can only accommodate 10 people though, so reps suggest that interested participants sign up at the front desk.

Beginning August 4, sessions will be held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. Back Bay at Prudential Center, 800 Boylston St., Boston, 617-262-2050, mysportsclub.com.

Beginning August 6, sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6 p.m. 840 Winter St., Waltham, 781-522-2222, mysportsclub.com.
