Boston Calling, the city’s newest concert event held on City Hall Plaza, is gearing up for another big show on Memorial Day weekend. And although the line-up of bands hasn’t been announced, the organizers of the three-day festival are giving a few lucky music fans an early chance to get their hands on tickets and a sneak peek at the set list.

In what they are calling a “Find the Vinyl” scavenger hunt, Boston Calling organizers announced Friday that they’d be hiding records all around the city that contain the names of bands scheduled to appear on stage May 23-25. The vinyl packages will also include a free pass to each day’s concert, and special edition artwork on the sleeve.

Starting Monday, January 27, at 8 p.m., it will be up to music hounds to sniff out where the records are hiding. All of the vinyl for the scavenger hunt will be planted by 12 a.m. The hunt will end the following day at noon.

To help people locate the limited-edition ticket packages, organizers will be sending out clues via social media starting five hours before they place the records around Boston. Those that want to participate in the hunt can follow @Boston_Calling on Twitter and on Facebook.

Boston Calling, which is produced by Crash Line Productions, called Government Center home for two prior concert series last year. Tens of thousands of fans came out for the shows, which included appearances by Marina and the Diamonds, Kendrick Lamar, Fun., and Deer Tick.

“As with May and September, the festival promises to bring a heavy hitting lineup of national artists to the heart of Boston,” a press release from the organizers said, when they announced the Memorial Day weekend show in September. “Buyers can count on a strong weekend of music similar in style to May’s debut festival.”

For those who don’t get to scoop up the special vinyl packages during the scavenger hunt, Boston Calling’s pre-sale for three-day general admission and VIP passes will open Wednesday, January 29, at 10 a.m. The line-up will be announced the day before, following the contest.
