A huge music extravaganza is headed to town later this month, courtesy of sneaker namesake Converse. The Massachusetts-based brand, which recently flipped the switch at their Boston headquarters late last year, is celebrating their new ventures by taking over the Sinclair in Cambridge for “Rubber Tracks Live,” a five-night completely free music fest.

Passion Pit, the Replacements, Descendents, Chance the Rapper, and Slayer will headline the event taking place April 27 through May 1. Opening acts are reserved for local bands who have recorded at Converse’s new Rubber Tracks studio.

“We knew when we were moving into Boston that we wanted to do something that really celebrated the move and the local community and wanted to give something back,” Jed Lewis, Converse’s global music marketing director, said to the Boston Globe.

Tickets for Rubber Tracks Live are free for people of all ages, but will be distributed in a random, computerized system. On converse-music.com/boston, attendees can register at noon on Monday, April 20, and choose two tickets for one of the five nights. Registration is open until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. Converse will notify the registrants they’ve selected for tickets via e-mail that same night.
