Best of the Day: Craft Beer Events – May 27, 2015
Welcome to Best of the Day, our daily recommendation for what to check out around town. If you do one thing in Boston today, consider this.
Beer pairs well with so many things—including artisanal cheese and experimental music, as two local craft-beer powerhouses will demonstrate tonight.
Over in Somerville, Aeronaut Brewing Company—the local craft beer operation that professes a passion for taking traditional beer styles and giving them a modern spin—will host the spring installment of their Original Gravity concert series. On tap (in addition to a bevy of craft-brewed beverages) will be the experimental music and video works of Butch Rovan, who co-directs Brown University’s Multimedia & Electronic Music Experiments (MEME) program.
Meanwhile, in Cambridge, Formaggio Kitchen and Night Shift Brewing will join forces at Formaggio’s Classroom Annex space for an evening class devoted to beer and cheese pairings. You’d be hard-pressed to find more knowledgeable teachers: As a shop that boasts their own temperature-and-humidity-controlled cheese cave, Formaggio is not messing around when it comes to fromage; and Night Shift Brewing—whose oeuvre includes such intriguing oddities as a purple-carrot autumn saison and a horchata-inspired milk stout—has a flair for inventive combos. Tonight, you can get a taste of their expertise.
