We Strapped on a GoPro and Played Bubble Soccer in Boston Common

Social Boston Sports brought what could very well be Boston’s first public display of bubble soccer to the Common Tuesday, and we wanted in.

I strapped on my trusty GoPro and headed over to the Common, which was buzzing with activity in preparation for the opening night of Outside the Box Festival. After signing a waiver, I slid into the deceptively heavy bubble, which vaguely smelt of celery. Now, I’m no generational talent, even when unencumbered by a giant bubble, but I’d like to think I held my own.

Each game lasted five minutes. Though that may seem short, lugging the bubble around and rebounding after each successive hit is surprisingly draining. Still, the whole spectacle was a blast.
