Some kitchens are nice, and then some kitchens are deluxe enough to play host to a culinary school. The home’s current chef owner runs the Lincoln Street Cooking School out of her own cookery, which is decked out with a rosewood island, stainless counters, and two sinks and dishwashers. The group of gourmands perch at the 12-seat bar, and watch as the chef prepares a four-course meal before their eyes. If you’re cooking for yourself rather than a class, you can savor a small-scale meal in the adjacent breakfast area, bordered on one side by a full wall of windows. Vaulted ceilings and transom windows continue down into the sunken sitting room, where you can cozy up next to the sleek, standalone wood-burning fireplace.

From the kitchen, wander into the formal dining room, then the floral-wallpapered foyer, then the living room with green accents and several built-ins, and to complete the circle, into the media room where bookshelf-patterned wallpaper disguises the hall leading down to the basement as a faux library. After taking in all the first floor has to offer, tread upstairs to check out the master suite. Gray walls and a white fireplace stand out against punches of royal purple as seen in the bathroom vanity and finally, enjoy the LDa Architecture-designed piece de resistance: a custom, circular dressing room. On the inside of its curved walls, a dressing table, window, and dozens of drawers, shelves, and cubbies for clothing and accessories create a self-contained portal to spiff up in the morning.

Equally as enticing as the completely customized 1830 construction itself are its grounds and location in Hingham. Stone patios encompass a huge saltwater pool, and vegetable gardens and fruit trees grow in the yard. Pick a ripe peach, pear, apple, or bunch of grapes depending on the season, and stroll down the street to the beach, downtown Hingham, or make the milelong jaunt to the Commuter Rail and cruise into Boston.
