But there will be no arguing over the quality of the writing. To tell the “fictional” story of a basketball prodigy who skips college, wins pro titles, seems perfect to the public, and is eventually exposed as deeply flawed after he rapes a hotel worker (sound familiar?), the Somerville author masterfully employs a style all his own.
