Deck the Walls

The perfect backdrop to a cheerful childhood.

Anyone questioning the expense of hand-painted, hand-screened wallpaper has never seen nor felt the work of Nama Rococo, an art-paper company out of western Massachusetts. Artist Karen Combs’s luscious patterns (she calls them “the color of music”) make us smile, make us feel like dancing—make us just plain happy. Combs earned a master’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and moved into an old textile mill in North Adams four years ago, where she set up shop. Little Butterfly Loop in Chinese Red, $126 per 25” x 38” sheet, namarococo.com.
