Did you always want to be a business owner?
Actually, no. I held executive positions in the corporate world for many years and ran medical device and medical service companies. I also served on corporate boards, and still do.
What was the inspiration to start your business?
My sister, who died of malignant melanoma when she was 40 years old. She was my best friend and only sibling.
I founded SkinHealth in her honor. My goal was to help prevent other families from losing loved ones to melanoma. I created a highly effective line of serious sunscreens and began donating a portion of sales to melanoma research. Health Magazine selected us as the “Best Sunscreen” in the country! We now sell our SkinHealth sunscreens and our full line of results-oriented skincare products through the internet and in our spas.
Any advice for potential entrepreneurs?
Have a passion for what you do;
mine is health and beauty. Regardless of age, whether 20 or 70, skin is our most important feature. Skin is the largest organ in our body. It needs to be nourished, protected, and cared for properly. When your skin is healthy and glowing, you are naturally beautiful (or handsome)!
