Sex’s Greatest Hits: Number Two

In anticipation of the Sex and the City movie Bostonista will not only be swilling commemorative cosmos, we’ll also be counting down what we consider to be Carrie’s greatest outfits from the HBO series. (And we’d love to hear from you, whether you agree with our picks, disagree with them, or just prefer Smith Jared’s bare chest over any accessory actually involving fabric.)

The countdown continues…here’s Number Two. (Plus a tip: The 12:01 a.m. showing tonight at both Boston Common and Fenway are still open on Fandango.)

1212079000Appeared In: Season 3, episode 33, “Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman”
The Elements: Burgundy paisley Emanuel Ungaro silk ruffle blouse, red-and-white Chanel jacket, blue plaid cropped pants, pink snakeskin heels, Bulgari necklace, Gucci purse.
Why it’s Fabulous: It’s a classic example of Carrie’s allegiance to sartorial chaos. (We think this outfit, in particular, is the apotheosis of “eclectic chic.”) Nothing goes together, and yet it is pulled off with such confidence and nonchalance that it appears almost methodical.
Try This At Home?: No. Honestly, if we saw this on someone in the street, we’d probably ridicule her (or him?) mercilessly, if only out of jealousy for the perfect vintage Chanel jacket.
