Store Opening: Timberland

By: Anne Vickman

Boston-based rugged-chic outfitter Timberland (originally called the Abington Shoe Company) has opened a new location on Newbury Street. The 2,500-square-foot store, which opened on St. Paddy’s Day last week in the old Prince School building, was constructed using sustainable components such as recycled wood and low-VOC paints. Formerly a Gap, the spot now houses a manicured selection of clothing and footwear with all the fixings of blue-collar-inspired, Shelburne Falls–infused style: preppy plaid button-down shirts and polos for guys; leather bombers and satchels for gals; and an entire wall devoted to shoes and boots, including those Bethel Tall Boots we’re smitten with and a selection of boat shoes exclusive to Boston. The grand opening will be April 15 to 18, and if you swing by the shop now you can score a coupon for 20 percent off during the event, as well as enter a raffle to win an über-urban DBC bicycle.
