Eight Slow Cooker Breakfast Recipes for a Lazy Morning

From breakfast burritos to French toast, set up your slow cooker before bed and wake up to a freshly made breakfast.


Whether you’re rushing out the door in the morning or you’re hosting brunch for your friends, finding the time to make breakfast can be a challenge. Slow cookers, however, are a great solution to this problem. With many of these slow cooker breakfast recipes, you can simply prepare all of your ingredients before you go to bed and leave the crock pot on overnight. When you wake up, breakfast will be waiting for you.

1. Slow Cooked Quinoa Porridge with Apple and Cinnamon

Instead of oats, this porridge recipe uses quinoa for added protein. Keep an eye on the quinoa when you first turn the slow cooker on—temperatures can vary among slow cookers and you want to be sure the quinoa doesn’t burn. If it’s absorbing liquid quickly, add water or milk in half cup increments.

These stuffed peppers are filled with eggs, sausage, and green chiles for a hearty breakfast. Make sure that the peppers are able to stand without falling over—you may need to add more peppers or take some out depending on how large or small your slow cooker is.

You only need two ingredients to make this yogurt: whole milk, and a small amount of store-bought yogurt to ensure you have active cultures in your homemade yogurt. Once the yogurt is done cooking in the crock pot, let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours to thicken.

This French toast recipe calls for French bread and white sugar. However, you can swap these ingredients for whole grain or whole wheat bread and maple syrup if you prefer a lighter version. You can also try using fresh or frozen cranberries instead of dry ones.
