State Police Seize 1,100 Pounds of Marijuana

State Police seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana from a Worcester man’s apartment, which was being used as a “stash location” for the drugs, they said.

According to police, a man using two false identities was arrested Thursday, and will appear in Worcester District Court to face drug and motor vehicle charges.

Last week, troopers said the suspect, who was using the name Carlos Martinez, was driving a car registered under a fake name. Following an investigation in conjunction with the Commonwealth Fusion Center and the Registry of Motor Vehicles, officers found that “Martinez” allegedly had two separate drivers licenses he was using along with invalid Social Security numbers.

“State Police sought to revoke the registration due to the false information the suspect had provided to the RMV,” police said.

On Thursday, officers said they again observed “Martinez” driving around in the same vehicle in the Worcester area. State Police arrested him, and sought a search warrant for his apartment. Once they went to the residence, officers found 1,100 pounds of marijuana in what they claim was a hideout for the paraphernalia. police estimated the drugs are worth around $1 million.
