Built in 1974 by a Yale-trained architect and three artisans, this teeny 496-square-foot home in Rockport is a comfortable year round residence. It’s situated on the village’s quaint harbor, and from its abundance of windows boasts direct views of Motif No. 1—the iconic red fishing shack that’s been depicted in countless paintings over the years.

The one-bedroom home harkens back to Rockport’s artist colony roots, as it’s aptly suited for a painter or a writer. “Star Island Park is adjacent to the lot and is a great spot to set up your easel,” reads the cabin’s listing. When it was built, the home replaced an aging lobster shack on the property.

Inside the airy little abode, there’s one bedroom in the form of a sleeping loft, one bathroom, a small kitchen with a cast-iron stove, and an open, versatile living area clad in wood. Outside, there’s a small patio and enough room to launch a kayak or a paddle board.
