Sure, some people are just looking for a gym where they can bang out a quick 30 minutes on a treadmill. But Life Time Athletic wants to craft a whole experience for its guests. From its upscale amenities to its spa-like locker rooms, you’ll feel more like you’re at a resort than getting in your afternoon workout. But maybe that’s all part of the motivation?

Now, Peabody’s Northshore Mall will know what it’s like to sweat—er, maybe glitter?—at a Life Time Athletic, as the company plans to open a 114,000 square foot healthy living, healthy aging, and healthy entertainment facility.

The facility is set to open in 2020, making the Northshore location the fifth in the greater Boston area. The building will stand three stories tall and offer a full-service LifeSpa and LifeCafe as well as studio and training areas. The first floor will feature outdoor lap and leisure pools, whirlpools, and a bistro.

Life Time’s mission hinges on providing health and fitness options beyond just working out, with an emphasis on services for all ages. Children ages three months to 11 years old will have the chance to partake in a Kids Academy where they will learn about healthy habits and physical activity.

“We are thrilled to have a state-of-the-art Life Time facility at Northshore Mall,” Mark Whiting, Northshore’s Mall manager, said in a press release. “It is a perfect complement to our outstanding retail, dining, and entertainment offerings.”

The news of Life Time opening comes right after the opening of the Promenade at the mall, which features updated interior and exterior elements, outdoor entertainment, and an extensive list of dining offerings, including Tony C’s and Caffe Nero.

Northshore, your gym experience is about to get swankier.
