Sorting through fitness summits and workshops is a tall task, especially in the summer when there seems to be a different one every single weekend. From attending and hosting our own, here’s our two cents on knowing what’s worth your money: Look for ones that not only have a killer lineup of speakers but that give you actionable next-steps in your fitness routine, a group of people to support you, and lunch (duh).

In all seriousness, this women-only fitness retreat, hosted by Boston-based fitness instructors and entrepreneurs Athena Concannon and Lauren Bradley, promises all of those things, and more. The two are bringing the Soul Sista Summit to the District Hall in the Seaport on June 22 and June 23. Concannon tells me their “goal through this retreat is to make the weekend a place where women can step away from their to do’s and busy lives and immerse themselves in their health and personal development.”

Saturday’s agenda includes break-out sessions about manifesting your own wellness vision, shifting your beliefs, and creating a 90-day action plan, among other things. And closes out with a cocktail party. While Sunday is all about the speakers and presenters. The keynote speaker is Dr. Lisa Lewis, who you may recognize from our most recent post on navigating social media. She will present on using psychological skills, to enhance motivation, initiate regular exercise and wellness habits, and how to respond to barriers that might interfere with you reaching your goals.

Other speakers include Candace Smith, the CEO of Beauty of Strength and Sam Vander Wielen, an attorney turned coach who helps other entrepreneurs grow legally legit businesses through her custom templates. Smith will talk about the power of strength training and Vander Wielen will talk about taking chances and trying new things (in business and in life). Each day includes a workout as well so you can get your heart pumping a little.

After both starting their own fitness company’s in 2016 and making some mistakes and taking messy action along the way, Concannon and Bradley want to share everything they’ve learned with you. You’ll walk away from the weekend not only inspired, but with a new network of friends, a goodie bag full of fitness apparel and samples, and a Soul Sista tank (cause who doesn’t love free fitness swag?).
