It’s possible to find affordable, single-family home in Boston.

Yes, we’re serious. If you look hard enough, there are a select few. In this case, though, data and research startup NeighborhoodX did the looking.

In a new analysis, the company found homes for sale in the Boston area going for $250,000 or less. (Some of them dipped as low as $165,000.) The homes within city limits are clustered in Dorchester, Hyde Park, and Mattapan, while the greater Boston ones are found in Everett, Malden, and Quincy.

What’s interesting is that the sizes of the homes vary pretty widely. They range from a 1,360-square-foot single-family in Everett asking $179,000 to a 462-square-foot converted beach cottage in Quincy asking $165,000.
