On the Market: A Gingerbread House in Western Mass.
3 South Maple, Shelburne Falls
Size: 2,889 square feet
This Gothic Revival gingerbread house is not actually made out of gingerbread—rather, gingerbread houses make up an architectural style characterized by highly decorative features like whimsical trim and colorful paint. Built in 1868, the house is situated in Shelburne Falls, a quaint little town in Western, Mass. (It’s also where Bill Cosby lives.) The house is a jewel of the town, attracting the attention of HGTV and This Old House Magazine. It boasts three fireplaces, copper roofing, and a spacious country kitchen. Outside, there’s a gazebo and a small pond, along with a similarly styled playhouse.
